GLAN and Bellingcat host open source intelligence experts to investigate air-strikes in Yemen

In late January 2019, GLAN and Bellingcat brought together world leading investigative journalists, technologists, and lawyers to combine their expertise in open source intelligence to discover, verify, analyse and preserve a dataset of 100 aerial bombardments occurring in Yemen.

The Collective’s aim will be to create a replicable methodology and a comprehensive public database to meet the highest evidence standards for potential use in impact-oriented investigative journalism, academia, and legal endeavours. This singular four-day event hosted by The Policy Institute at King's College London provided a fundamental opportunity to establish a benchmark for conducting remote Open Source Investigations in Yemen. The resulting database of incident assessments, methodology and explainers will be made publicly available by the 4th anniversary of the aerial bombing campaign from March 2019 at: http://yemen.bellingcat.com
